The purpose of constructing the hospital in Rafsanjan County is to achieve the goal of Iran’s economic, social, and cultural development plan, aimed at ensuring that all segments of society have access to a relative level of welfare and health.
Climatic conditions are highly significant in designing healthcare centers, and climate is one of the most important factors affecting architectural design. Therefore, the design of buildings in hot and dry regions is done in a compact and dense manner. This approach minimizes the exposure of external surfaces to the outside environment and reduces thermal exchange in both winter and summer. For this reason, the overall orientation of the project was considered east-west.
In the southern part of the building, the psychiatric section is separated from the rest of the complex by a connecting corridor, which not only helps create a more aesthetically pleasing form but also facilitates functional operations for both staff and visitors.
Increasing Height for Light and Physical Program
Shading of walls in the compact plan design and the creation of central voids alongside raised modular volumes provide shading and prevent direct sunlight from hitting the façades. This approach reduces thermal exchange during hot and cold seasons.
